MindFusion.Diagramming for ASP.NET 4.1

Wednesday November 16, 2011

MindFusion is pleased to announce that a new version of its Diagramming component for ASP.NET has just been released. Here is an overview of the new features:

  Automatic node alignment
Automatic node alignment

The AutoAlignNodes property aligns the node currently being drawn or resized to another node so that their vertical or horizontal sides become collinear. The space at which auto aligning is activated is set with AutoAlignDistance. The pair of nodes that will be aligned is indicated visually by drawing an alignment guide with the AlignmentGuidePen.

Fractal tree layout

FractalLayout is a tree layout algorithm that places child nodes symmetrically around their parent node. Nodes at the lowest level are arranged directly in a circle around their parent. At the upper level, the already arranged nodes form branches that are arranged in a circle around the new parent node. The algorithm is recursively repeated till the highest level is reached.

HTML5 Canvas front-end

It is now possible to render the diagram at the client side using an HTML5 Canvas element. The Canvas mode currently supports ShapeNode and DiagramLink objects. It also provides client-side support for the Overview and ShapeListBox controls. The layout algorithms you can use at the client, though simplified, are: LayeredLayout, TreeLayout, SpringLayout and FractalLayout.

Miscellaneous

The start and end nodes in the LayeredLayout can be specified with the StartNode and EndNode properties.

OrthogonalLayout produces more compact layouts with less link bends if MinimizeLinkBends is enabled.

All NodeConstraints types have been implemented in Java mode.

WmfExporter now renders the LaneGrid in the exported WMF drawing.

Detailed information about the release is posted at the forum. The trial version is available for direct download from the link below:
